About Us

What is Neurosurgery?

Neurosurgery is a medical specialty focused on the diagnosis, treatment, and surgical management of disorders affecting the nervous system, including the brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nerves. Neurosurgeons perform procedures to treat conditions such as brain tumors, aneurysms, spinal disorders, traumatic brain injuries, epilepsy, and movement disorders like Parkinson’s disease.

Neurosurgery can be highly complex and may involve minimally invasive techniques, traditional open surgeries, or advanced robotic and computer-assisted procedures. It requires extensive training, typically including medical school, a residency lasting around 7 years, and sometimes additional fellowship training in specialized areas such as pediatric neurosurgery, neuro-oncology, or spine surgery.
